Coasteering is an exciting and highly challenging adventure water sport that involves tackling an unpredictable route through varied terrain along the coastline. Not for the faint-hearted, you’ll tackle cliff jumps, sea swimming, rock scrambling and more, either on foot or by swimming to get yourself to the next natural obstacle. Sessions run locally around Saunton, Croyde and Ilfracombe, and in our opinion, there’s no better way to really experience the North Devon coastline!
Local adventure sports provider, H2Outdoor, run most of their coasteering sessions along the edge of Baggy Point – a headland that separates Croyde Bay and Morte Bay. This spectacular location offers a rugged and challenging terrain, as well as some of the most stunning scenery in the country. You’ll have to manoeuvre your way through sea caves and rock formations, as well as face a selection of jumps including the “U-Bend”, “Swirly Gully” and “The Waterfall”.
Sessions can also run from Hele Bay, near Ilfracombe. This spot boasts a number of adrenaline pumping challenges, such as jumps from some of the highest and most exposed cliffs in the UK, thrilling coastal features, and long swims. Thanks to the changing tide, sea and weather conditions, each coasteering session is different to the last and will throw up new tests of your physical and mental abilities.
“North Devon one of the best locations in the country for people wanting to explore the outdoor environment in a variety of exciting ways and we enjoy nothing more than guiding our customers in the stunning places and hidden gems that we like the most”H2Outdoor Adventure Specialists
