Being based at Saunton Beach, we’re lucky enough to be surrounded by a number of fantastic adventure and water sports providers who run group activities daily. Please be aware that many of these sessions book up quickly (especially in high season) so we recommend booking in advance. If you’re looking to book a stag or hen do to suit an adrenaline seeking adventure junkie, then coasteering ticks all the boxes! A Coasteering session with H2Outdoor will take you along the edge of Baggy Point (the headland that separates Croyde Bay and Morte Bay), or at Hele Bay, near Ilfracombe. Not for the fainthearted, you’ll have to scramble across rocks, leap from high cliffs into the waves, make your way through sea caves and endure sea swims to get you to your next challenge…are you up for it?! Participants must be able to swim 10 metres and routes can be adapted to suit the abilities of individual groups. You’ll be in the hands of highly experienced instructors who know the coastline like the back of their hands and hold expert local knowledge. Did you know that Devon’s number one golf course is located right here in Saunton, just 5 minutes’ from the Villas?! This award winning golf course is situated on Braunton Burrows – the largest sand dune system in England and the core of The North Devon UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The club has been established for over 100 years and boasts 2 spectacular courses – The East Course which is ranked No.32 in the Golf World “Top 100 Courses”, and the West Course which is ranked No. 67. Sands Restaurant is open from 9am until 11pm daily in high season (closed Monday, Tuesday and in the Winter), serving a selection of delectable dishes accompanied by a fine drinks menu. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a bite to eat and a few glasses of wine after a long day of activities, and what’s more, it’s just a short walk from your Villa!
Start the day with a full English breakfast; drop in for a frothy coffee after a stroll along the Saunton beach or nearby coastal paths. Enjoy lunch al fresco on the terrace – a perfect vantage point for watching the day’s surfing unfold. Join us for a traditional Devon cream tea or light bite, served against the relaxed beach side.
By night enjoy an à la carte meal made from the finest local produce with a glass of chilled wine, whilst watching the sunsets across the breathtaking Saunton Beach, finish the evening enjoying a liqueur coffee whilst watching the moonlight dance across the waves.

The Thatch, Croyde If you want real pub food, real ales (some local) and fine wine, The Thatch, located in the middle of a busy surfing village is the place for you. It has a great chilled out vibe and a cosy atmosphere not to mention a cool music scene.
The Rock, Georgeham This 17th Century Inn boasts five cask marque real ales, an extensive wine list and fantastic fresh food cooked with passion and flair served in either of our cosy fireside bars or bright and airy conservatory.
Claytons and The Glass House, Barnstaple This more sophisticated bar/restaurant is located just off from the Barnstaple high street. Although not ideal for children in the evening it’s a great-relaxed atmosphere for eating and drinking. There is a lounge bar menu and a Glasshouse restaurant menu, which is a little dearer. The food ranges from pasta dishes to seafood.
