Doing Our Bit

Our site here at Saunton sits right at the heart of the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

We are mindful of the responsibility that we hold in running a business in a UNESCO designated biosphere reserve. Business activities and developments are planned and actioned with sustainability and environmental impact in mind. We are continually looking to lower our carbon footprint and find new ways to operate ethically and sustainably.

Here are just some of the ways that we are playing our part:

Monthly Beach Cleans

We work in partnership with Plastic Free North Devon, Christie Estates, and other businesses here at Saunton Beach to run a schedule of monthly beach cleans. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for upcoming dates – why not join in if you’re on site!

Electric Vehicles

Our old diesel Housekeeping and Maintenance vehicles have been replaced with electric vehicles.

Guest Recycling Facilities

We provide recycling bins for guests to recycle their plastic, cardboard, cans and glass.

Beach Recycling Bins and BBQ Bin

We provide separate recycling bins on the beach, in which the public can place their mixed recycling. We also provide a BBQ bin on the beach for the safe disposal of disposable BBQ’s.

Compostable Coffee Pods

Our Lavazza coffee machines take Lavazza Eco Pods which are fully compostable.

Reusable bottles

Washing up liquid is provided for each guest in a reusable bottle which is topped up with each changeover. The Deluxe Villas have bodywash and shampoo dispensers which are topped up with each changeover.

Reusing Washed Up Materials

Our talented Maintenance Team have been using washed up sleepers and bits of driftwood to build BBQ stands and other structures for some of the Villas.
