Whether you’re a keen experienced surfer, or wanting to learn to surf and catch your first wave, Saunton’s world-famous surf is the perfect place. In March 2022, North Devon was formally announced as the 12th World Surfing Reserve, taking a prestigious place alongside iconic surfing locations across the globe.
If you’re looking for surfing lessons, we have several surf schools here on site, as well as a surf hire shop. We recommend booking in advance to secure lessons and gear hire.

Walking on Waves Surf School is Saunton Sand’s original surf school, with over 20+ years of experience. All instructors are ISA level qualified and are dedicated surfers who love helping others try surfing for the first time or working with advanced surfers who want private coaching to take their surfing to the next level, and everyone in between.
